The end of the WWⅡ in 1945 one million black soldiers came back. The government gave money white soldiers for house ,but black soldiers did not get it!!

1953 King married Coretta Scott.

After they moved to Montgomery, she often worried about King because many white people wanted to kill him.

1954 US government finally passed a very important new law. Segregation in all US schools became illegal!!

But segregation on buses in the south was continued.

On Thursday December 1, 1955 one black woman, Mrs. Rosa Park got on the bus and sat down. By the next bus stop the bus became full. So the bus driver told her to give her seat for white passenger. But she refused.

Driver called police and she arrested. This is a unfair!!!!
She is a woman with a strong core !!

In 1963 “I have a dream today ・・・one day little black boys and girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and girls as sister and brother” One black man made an address to 2500,00 people in Washington, D.C.

The man name is Martin Luther King, Jr.

 He born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta.

When he was child he played with white boy. But white boy’s parents said King “stop playing with my son!!”

Then he decided that he hated all white people.

 He was very smart. In fact he graduated high school at 15.

He liked church ,but when he was 15, he started questions the church’s teachings.

 At 17 he decided to become a preacher. And he began working on Sunday at Ebenezer Church.

Nelson Mandela

1962 Mandela visits leaders of other countries(Ethiopiua, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali, Morocco).

1962 the police caught him in a car outside Rivonia and he got five years in prison. He was a leader in in prison, and the other prisoners always wanted him to speak for them.

He appeals all over the world through mass media in prison.

In his 27 and a half years in prison, he didn’t thinking about his family.

1969 Mandela was very sad because he could not see his mother’s last time.

1977 he started a garden. He gave vegetables to prisoner cook and the warders.

1988 he was moved Victor Verster prison. There was very nice and larger.

1990 new president F.W de Klerk freed Nelson Mandela .

It was beginning of the end of apartheid in South Africa.

1991 He became president of the ANC.

1993 he and de Klerk won the Nobel Peace Prize.

1994 Mandela is President of South Africa=apartheid end.

As you know he is a reader of ANC(African National Congress),  the first black president of South Africa.

But I didn’t know his young time.

He was born in Mvezo. When he was child, he was very happy.

When he was 16, he stop being boy. he sat on the ground with other boys.

Then he liked white man because they built schools.

Many university students he protested.

In 1943-49 he studied law at Witwaterland University and he was only black student.

1944 he married first wife. And he had four children.

In 1951 he and ANC told government “change six apartheid laws or we’ll protest again”. And he told other member of ANC “perhaps the police will use violence but you can’t.

 Next year he started law office in Johannesburg with friend. It was the only black lawyer office in South Africa.

1956 he was arrested.

1957 he married again.
